Promote Ad-hoc Fields
Currently, you can only promote ad-hoc fields within the development workspace (from a dashboard's visualization block to dataset fields).
Promoting ad-hoc fields from the reporting workspace to the development workspace is not supported yet.
Introduction
Have you created ad-hoc fields in your dashboards or Dataset Explore that turned out to be valuable for your team? Instead of recreating these fields multiple times, you can promote them to become permanent Dataset Metrics or Dataset Dimensions.
Field Promotion allows you to transform your proven ad-hoc calculations into reusable dataset fields, making them easily accessible across all dashboards and reports.
How to Promote Ad-hoc Fields
When you create an ad-hoc field in a report that you want to reuse, you can easily promote it to become a permanent dataset field. Here's how:
- Create an ad-hoc field in your report using existing dataset metrics and dimensions
- Click the
...menu next to the ad-hoc field - Select "Promote" to convert it into a permanent dataset field
Once promoted, you can use this field across all your dashboards and reports.
