🖥️ Generate canvas dashboards from quick dashboards directly in Reporting
We're excited to share our new feature: Generate canvas dashboards from quick dashboards directly in Reporting.
☔ Why we built this
- Can't generate canvas dashboards from quick dashboards in Reporting: Previously, converting a dashboard from version 3.0 → version 4.0 always navigated you to Development (even when “Allow direct Dashboard Editing in Reporting” was turned on), which:
- Disrupts your editing workflow when you expect to continue your work in Reporting but are redirected to Development instead.
- Restricts explorers from converting quick dashboards into canvas dashboards, including those in their personal workspace.
- Can't select the destination folder to save the generated canvas dashboard: All dashboards created from Development are automatically placed in the public root folder.
⭐ What's new
This update enables you to:
- Generate directly in Reporting: When generating canvas dashboards from quick dashboards:
- For dashboards in Public workspace:
- “Allow direct Dashboard Editing in Reporting” is enabled: The system prioritizes to generate dashboards directly in Reporting
- “Allow direct Dashboard Editing in Reporting” is disabled: Users (with permission) will be navigated to Development to generate dashboards.
- For dashboards in Personal workspace: Generate directly in Reporting.
- Choose the saving folder: Save to the Public workspace for team sharing, or the Personal workspace for private exploration
