Create dashboard from dataset exploration
Introduction
As you self-serve explore data, you can save these visualizations into dashboards. This guide walks you through how to create a new dashboard during the exploration process.
Quick recap
As a quick recap, Holistics has two environments:
- Development (for Analyst / Admin): Build, edit, and manage your data workflow with software engineering best practices. Only Canvas Dashboard is available.
- Reporting (for Anyone, with permission): Explore and consume data with a self-service and no-code interface. Both Quick Dashboard and Canvas Dashboard are available.

Explore & create on Development
- Step 1: Go to Development, open a dataset.
- Step 2: Explore the dataset by visualizing the data.
- Step 3: Click the Save as Visualization button to save the exploration result.
- Step 4: Choose a dashboard to save your exploration
- Save to existing dashboard: Choose the existing dashboard from the search box.
- Create a new dashboard: Click (+) Create new dashboard.
- Enter Dashboard Name and choose a folder to save the dashboard.
- Click the Create Dashboard button.
- Step 5: Save the exploration, and a Canvas Dashboard is created.
Explore & create on Reporting
- Step 1: Go to Reporting, open a dataset.
- Step 2: Explore the dataset by visualizing the data.
- Step 3: Click the Save as button to save the exploration result.
- Step 4: Choose a dashboard to save your exploration. You have the options to:
- Choose an existing dashboard
- Create a new canvas dashboard
- Create a new quick dashboard
- Step 5: Save the exploration into your dashboard.
